Teekay Shipping (Australia) Pty Ltd commenced working for the Defence Materiel Organisation in 2003, and continues to provide professional services to the Australian Government through the:
- Department of Defence
- Royal Australian Navy
- Australian Border Force
Teekay’s ability to provide the Australian Government with both the technical management support and workforce to achieve consistent outcomes that are delivered safely, on time is demonstrated in the following examples:
|In the case of the ADV Ocean Protector, Teekay has first-hand knowledge of the Vessel and its support needs from its previous involvement with the Vessel between 2009 and 2014.
Teekay was a subcontractor to SEAFORCE when the ship was on charter to the Australian Government represented by Customs and Border Protection, providing Technical Management and Crew Manning
|Teekay has also proven itself as a trustworthy and capable prime contractor to the Australian Government for a substantially similar requirement providing effective and efficient support to the ABF Cutter Ocean Shield, the sister-ship of the ADV Ocean Protector between 2012 and 2016.
Most notably Ocean Shield, was acquired and established within the Royal Australian Navy as an Interim Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Vessel (IHADR). In the two and half year period of service when Teekay performed this role, 85% of all operations with the asset were for non-IHADR tasks. This is demonstrated in the tasking profiles below.
|Ocean Shield – Significant Tasking Profiles (Service with RAN)||Ocean Shield – Significant Tasking Profiles (Service with ABF)|
Teekay is providing ongoing services that exceed the minimum contractual and operational expectations enabling extended deployments of the asset including repeated operational coverage of other assets when unavailable.
From 2003 to 2008, Teekay had a full-time presence of up to five persons at the Amphibious Afloat Sustainment Support Systems Program Office (AASSPO) providing Technical Support and the provision of Commonwealth Project Managers for External Maintenance Availabilities, Dry docks and Major Re-fits for HMAS Tobruk, HMAS Manoora, HMAS Kanimbla and HMAS Success and STS Young Endeavour.
