From Keel Laying to Vessel Launch: 88 days!
We are proud to announce that last Sunday, August 30, the launch of Oak Spirit took place in Korea. The newbuilding is Teekay’s second LNG vessel powered with M-type, Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection (MEGI) twin engines, which is designed to be significantly more fuel-efficient and have lower emission levels than other engines currently being used in LNG shipping. Oak Spirit is one of the two 173,400 cubic meter LNG carrier newbuildings entering into five-year time-charter contracts with Cheniere Marketing, LLC (Cheniere) to provide them with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) transportation services.
