Teekay (Australia) is the Prime Contractor in a patrol boat tender to the Commonwealth of Australia to deliver a single class of up to 21 compliant steel-hulled patrol vessels, built to commercial standards, for 13 Pacific Island Countries in order to fulfill Australia’s obligation to the Pacific Maritime Security Program.
Teekay is leading the Cairns Solution bid, using #CairnsForTheWin hashtag to advertise why we believe our proposal should win against the other tenders.
The new builds will replace a fleet of existing vessels.
The Pacific Maritime Security Program aims to enhance practical maritime security cooperation across the South Pacific by broadening and strengthening the region’s capability to respond to issues such as fisheries protection, trans-national crime, and search and rescue.
Teekay has selected Damento design, build and deliver the vessels, should we be successful. One of the core features is that the boats will be built locally in Cairns, Queensland, Australia, by BSE Maritime Solutions.
The tender also includes through life support and ship management of all 21 vessels for a minimum period of seven years, provided by Norship Marine.
All the companies have been working together to market the “Cairns Solution” as the best choice for the Commonwealth of Australia to choose in their final adjudication. You can find out more on the tender bid at www.CairnsForTheWin.com.
