Teekay successfully delivered the largest-ever liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment to one of the largest LNG facilities in the world. The shipment was delivered on November 17 to Isle of Grain Terminal in southeast England by the Al Khuwair, one of four Q-Flex LNG carriers, each with a cargo capacity of 217,000 m3, jointly owned by Teekay and Nakilat, and operating under long-term charter to RasGas. Teekay Fleet Director Martin Gallacher says the loaded cargo of 197,000 m3 arrived at the Isle of Grain after a 14-day voyage from Qatar and a 14-day stop at Gibraltar to await terminal readiness. A welcoming celebration commemorating the record delivery was held aboard the vessel, hosted by energy giant Centrica, parent company of the cargo owner, British Gas.
