Petrojarl Knarr has successfully started production from the Knarr Field
Petrojarl Knarr has started production from the Knarr oil field in the North Sea. Moored 120 kilometers off Norway, the unit is successfully operationalizing Teekay’s largest newbuilding project to date.
The Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, built at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, has a production capacity of 63,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and a storage capacity of 800,000 barrels of oil.
An estimated 80 million barrels of oil in the Knarr Field
The Knarr field has estimated gross recoverable reserves of around 80 million barrels of oil equivalent with a production life of at least ten years. Petrojarl Knarr will serve BG Group on a 6-year charter contract with extension options. As part of the field solution, Teekay will also provide shuttle tankers to handle the offloading operations.
