Teekay’s floating, production, storage and offtake (FPSO) vessel, the Petrojarl Cidade de Rio das Ostras recently celebrated its first year of production. Located in the Siri field in the Campos Basin in Brazil, the Siri project is one-of-a-kind, producing heavy oil previously considered to be inaccessible. Since its first year of production, the Siri FPSO has produced 1.8 million barrels of heavy oil for Petrobras, Brazil’s state owned oil company and Teekay’s customer for this project. Notably, Teekay achieved this significant milestone with zero lost-time injuries during the same timeframe. “Because this is a test production project, working with very heavy crude oil, we are particularly proud of achieving consistent production, while maintaining a strong safety record,” said Dennis Law, Vice President, Operations Brazil, Teekay. “When we reached this milestone, we also received feedback from Petrobras that they are specifically pleased with the technological improvements that have been achieved over the past year.”
