KT Maritime: RotorTug Design for Shell Prelude FLNG
February 14, 2015
“It’s a Joint Venture that Makes Sense to People”
Last year, Teekay Australia‘s joint venture with KOTUG International B.V., KT Maritime was awarded the contract to supply specialized tugs known as Infield Support Vessels (ISVs) for the Shell Prelude Floating LNG Facility – the world’s largest floating offshore facility. Following this announcement, we sat down with Jamie Anderson, Business Development Manager, to talk more about the importance of this joint venture for both Teekay and Kotug as well as the tugs to be built for Shell.
Teekay’s operational excellence combined with Kotug’s towage experience is a perfect joint venture to pursue new opportunities in the growing market for towage services to support LNG exports. This has proved to be an extremely beneficial arrangement, with Kotug’s reputation for quality and deep knowledge of tug design, complementing Teekay Australia’s understanding of the local market and proven operational capability based on our management of the towage operations in Hay Point and Port Hedland.
