As part of our ongoing Operational Leadership journey, we have implemented the Operational Leadership Award. The award is designed to recognize and reward people whose positive environmental, safety and leadership behaviors exemplify those expected of Operational Leaders. This quarter AB Jayson Matining Alday was nominated as the Safety Champion of Team Centaurus and has been chosen as overall winner for all Teekay fleets. Congratulations Jayson! The Erik Spirit team nominated Jayson as he is one of the crew members who reports maximum number of Quality TSOP (Teekay Safety Observation Process) and Hazards onboard. Not only is he very committed to hazard reporting but also ensures that all hazard are effectively closed out. He’s consistently leading by example for Teekay’s commitment to ‘Stop Unsafe Acts’. Jayson is always ensuring all crew members wear correct PPE (personal protective equipment) for the job. During Port Stays, he observes and ensures that shore personnel and third party contractors follow and observe Teekay standards. During hazardous operations such as mooring, he not only conducts himself in the safe manner but ensures his colleagues also carry out the job safely. He has good knowledge of ‘Snap Back Zone’ and makes sure that other personnel involved also stay clear of it. He has been an active participant during tool box talk for mooring operations. During vessel’s vetting preparation rounds, Jayson records good observations and corrects them under proper guidance to avoid being pointed out by vetting inspector. Way to go Jayson. Keep up the Teekay Spirit and Safety First!
