Teekay’s involvement in the Yamal LNG project is not just a $2B investment. We catch up with the people operationalizing the project.
After a special edition celebrating International Women’s Day in March, we are back with Episode 2 of the Teekay podcast, and we are on ice, in the far North, in the dark winter, investigating Teekay’s involvement in the Yamal LNG project.
Which flavour of ice do you prefer? For the podcast team, it is Bergy bits, all day long. We discuss the 21 types of ice found in the Arctic with James Thomson, the Teekay Yamal project manager, as well the immense undertaking of getting from concept to the launch of the Polar Operating Manual; then on to life at sea, on ice.
Now 60+ ship-to-ship transfers in (and counting), we also catch up with the LNGSTS team as they prepared to commence the largest-scale LNG STS operations in the world.
The Yamal LNG project garners so many “Woah!”s from the podcast team you would think we were riding a frisky polar bear on an ice floe chasing after cans of condensed milk that the crew of Eduard Toll had thrown overboard when stuck in ice.
