Reuniting Teekay Tankers sea and shore colleagues in a virtual space to learn, inspire and engage.
Though our staff live and work in offices and on vessels all around the world, at Teekay Tankers, we are still One Teekay Team. Typically, we create space for connection during our in-person seafarers conferences held throughout the year. But after a year of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and after experiencing the success of our ‘Future Of’ Summit, we spearheaded the first ever virtual Senior Officer Conference.
The three-day Senior Officer Conference was held with much enthusiasm from both our sea and shore staff. The networking and live interactions were easily one of the highlights of the conference as sea and shore staff could finally catch up “face-to face” via our virtual conference platform.
The overarching theme for the Conference was based on Teekay Tankers’ priorities of upholding our commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.
A few topics that were discussed were:
- Pursuing Absolute Excellence
- Mental Health and Well Being
- Ensuring Sustainability
- Demonstrating our Duty of Care
- Future of Shipping
In true Teekay fashion, we had our very own Teekay Tankers’ talent showcase throughout the conference! Our Teekay Tankers family shared their array of talents and had all attendees clapping, jamming and thoroughly impressed.
After three insightful days of learning, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees valued the conference topics and speakers and were happy to have the opportunity to engage with leadership, learn about Teekay Tankers’ future strategy, and connect with colleagues from around the world – all while covering important safety topics. While nothing can replace in-person interactions, hosting our seafarers’ conferences virtually was an innovative way to facilitate learning and connection in a global pandemic.
