Last week we marked the completion of the sale of Teekay LNG, to be rebranded as Seapeak, to Stonepeak, as first announced on October 4, 2021.
We closed the LNG chapter of our history and begin once more as a Tanker company – at least for now. We are grateful to our global Teekay colleagues for their continued resilience and trust as we chart a new path forward together.
We ventured into the LNG business for the first time in 2004 with the acquisition of Naviera Tapias and publicly listed as Teekay LNG Partners on the New York Stock Exchange in 2005. Over the past 18 years, we built our LNG franchise into the world’s third-largest independent LNG carrier owner and operator, with one of the biggest and most diversified portfolios of long-term contacts with leading players in the LNG industry. We also expanded the business into the LPG carriers and completed highly specialized and complex projects, including building six Arc7 LNG carrier icebreakers for the Yamal LNG project, and a joint venture in Bahrain to build and deliver the Bahrain Regasification Terminal.
We thank everyone at Teekay LNG, past and present, at sea and on shore, who have contributed to this journey, as well as our investors and partners for their support over the years.
