We asked three colleagues about their first Teekay ship visit experience and we are not surprised that they received the full Teekay treatment. Hear what they have to say:
Bernice Koh, Human ResourcesIn my first 2 months in Teekay, I was very grateful to have the opportunity to visit one of our vessels. I got to see Summit Spirit up close, and she looks amazing after dry dock. Some colleagues playfully teased me the week prior just to see my reaction. However, my visit turned out to be really fun and safe! Despite the short time we were onboard, I saw some really cool machinery on the bridge, engine room, cargo control room, and more! Huge thanks to the Summit Spirit team for the warm welcome and for taking the time to join us for some photos. A big shoutout to both sea and shore team for looking out for me. I’m already looking forward to my next vessel visit! |

Adeline Siaw, CommunicationsTo our Fleet Teams and HSEQ Teams, thank you for getting me PPE-ready for my first-ever vessel visit onboard Montreal Spirit. My pink gloves were quite the fashion statement and the crew onboard Montreal Spirit absolutely rock! The hospitality I received onboard is living proof of our SPIRIT values that sets Teekay apart. On top of that, Additional Master Alex Chungath was my first ever face-to-face seafarer interaction since I joined Teekay. It was an honor to hear about his journey from his time at sea to being seconded in the office. I learned that he is now a Master since we last spoke! With this progress, it’s great to know that Teekay seafarers have a bright future ahead and I can’t wait to hear more about it! |

Dinah Ho, Marine OperationsI am truly grateful for the opportunity to visit Whistler Spirit. During the boat ride to Whistler Spirit, Fleet Director, Ganesh Vaidyanathan provided valuable insights into the different types of vessels at sea and their respective functions, which offered me a deeper understanding of the industry. Upon arrival onboard, we were warmly welcomed by Captain Mohit Makhija and Additional Master Achal Gupta. The visit commenced with a guided tour of the bridge and it was intriguing to see the role these equipment play in ensuring the vessel’s safe passage at sea. The visit continued with a tour of the engine room and main deck. Through this vessel visit, I gained valuable insights into the intricate operations beyond the imposing exterior of a large vessel. It was eye-opening to witness the dedication and hard work of the crews and officers in managing the ship’s daily functions. The vessel visit concluded on a high note with a thoughtful gift from the team, and I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Captain and crew of Whistler Spirit for their warm hospitality. I look forward to more enriching vessel visits! |
